A shell of silence

Cinzia Pellin

It was a journey across
the disappearing face of life.
She was an unreadable being
moving into the unknown
She still remembers those voices
murmuring the same old things
as the morning dressed in black.

Before leaving that land,
she sat on the porch for
some minutes and asked him again:
“Would you like to tell me
where you are now?”
But there was no triumph in her words,
only the magic of despair.

He is still a space surrounding her heart,
a shell of silence where
yesterday sleeps.
