THE PRINCIPLES OF LUST

"O Lord, help me to be pure, but not yet"
Saint Augustine

"Sin is the excess of what is good."
Saint Augustine

Painting by Alberto Pancorbo

This greed opens my eyes:
I can’t walk in my ways anymore.

My flesh is nothing but violence and inaccuracy
I dirty myself with my eyes glued to the sky,
reaching out to the master
with bruised knees,
offering nothing
but that and that.

I love this shame,
this devastation when everything
is beyond, when I fall from heavens
to my private paradise.

Forgive me lord:
the excess of the excess makes me free,
the excess of the excess is the best sin.

  1. Now this is a poem that I can really relate to! We have all been there my friend. It is humbling to read of others who have crossed the same path. tc
