EMOTIONAL ARITHMETIC

What strange arithmetic

people know by heart

in these times of insensibility!

Greediness only teaches

how to add and multiply

since pockets and ammunition

are merciless to hunger and

ignorance.

Lashless eyes only see

what they want to see

for people are immune

to solidarity.

Happy are those who do not allow

themselves to be swallowed by

the midnight of the new mathematics.

Happy are those whose hearts

haven't been infected by the adulteries

of the unconcerned.

Redeem them from their blindness.

Soon or later they shall creep in mud

and sleep.
